I became an educator to help students that struggle. My passion has evolved into helping students with reading disabilities, such as dyslexia. I also have the privilege of supporting parents and educators that work with struggling readers.
I attended Austin College in Sherman, Texas. I enjoyed the unique experience of being a four-year, collegiate soccer player. I met my wonderful husband in photography class my freshman year. I graduated from Austin College with a Master of Arts in Education. The Austin Teacher Program gave me the foundation I needed to become a successful educator.
I left the classroom after seven years to become the English as a Second Language (ESL) Coordinator as well as Dyslexia coordinator for my district. As a coordinator for both programs, I kept our district in compliance, provided professional development for administrators and staff, and provided instruction for students. I enjoyed serving students in the ESL and Dyslexia programs, but I felt called to focus my efforts on students that have a reading disability.
As a Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT), I focus on teaching students with learning disabilities to read and write. I provide parents with tools to support their child at home. I equip teachers with the knowledge and resources to help their struggling readers at school. Together, we can help students overcome academic challenges and move the mountains in their life.
When working with students that struggle, it can be hard to know where to start. As a parent or young teacher, you might feel like you lack the knowledge necessary to help your struggling reader. As a classroom teacher, reading specialist, or administrator, you may be overwhelmed by your current resources and the vast amount of research on best practices to teach children to read. I use my experience and expertise to help parents, educators, and district administrators set their students up for success.

Far far away, behind the word mountains, far from the countries Vokalia and Consonantia, there live the blind texts. Separated they live in Bookmarksgrove right at the coast of the Semantics, a large language ocean. A small river named Duden flows by their place and supplies it with the necessary regelialia. It is a paradisematic country, in which roasted parts of sentences fly into your mouth.
